SS Circular Demister Pad Carry over of liquid particulate matter by gas or vapour is generally termed as "Entrainment" which is commonly encountered in gas - liquid sepeartions. The Mist Eliminator is an entrainment eliminator manufactured by SUMIT INDUSTRIES. It is specially designed and fabricated from Knitted wire of metallic or synthetic materials, to suit process configuration in existing or new equipment. When properly installed, the Mist eliminator acheives 99.9%+ sepearation efficiency with minimum pressure drop. Mechanism of Mist Eliminator / Demister Pad Mist is a generic term for entrainment, where the sizeof entrained liquid droplets is less than 10um. When mist laden vapour passes through the knitted wire mesh the vapour moves freely through the mesh but the liquid droplets, having inertia cannot follow the gas streamlines,contact the wire surfaces nad are briefly held there. As more droplets collect, they coalsce into large droplets and eventually fall off due to gravity. The overhead product is a pure vapour containing almost no liquid. Pressure Drop For process equipment at normal velocity P is usually neglible (almost <25mm of water) In vacuum service high performance is routinely achieved with P of the order of 2.5 mm of water. Even at higher velocities the pressure drop of wire mesh mist eliminator manufactured by SUMIT INDUSTRIES is extremely low, due to large voidage. Separation efficiency The demister pad manufactured by SUMIT INDUSTRIES is extremely versatile, providing virtually 100% removal efficiency in most mist control application for particles greater than 5 mm size. In order to further improve the eficiency in the sub-micron range, special fibres are imbedded into the mesh to take advantage of brownian diffusion. Furnished in a great variety of mesh styles, the demister offers capture efficiency and pressure drop that can be suited exactly to specific process requirements. Actual droplets size separation efficiency in other systems will be affected by gas velocity, liquid and gas densities and physical characteristicsof mesh pad.
